Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University celebrated its Silver Jubilee on November 2, 2023, at the Atal Auditorium in its campus at Prayagraj. The event served as an opportunity to reflect on the last 25 years and the progress that has been made. The University also took the time to acknowledge the contributions of the individuals who have helped it along the way. Addressing the function, Chief Guest Prof. Bansh Gopal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Open University, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh said that Rajarshi ji was also known as janak.Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University is a big university having 12 regional centeres and approx 1400 study centeres. Management of such university is a tough game but the present vice chancellor has done a great job. In the current educational scenario the role of open universities is immense. He further added that forth coming future is going to see an important role of open universities in educational and social context also. UGC has also recignised its importance by making its degrees equivalent to those of conventional universities. At present several traditional universities are adopting the teaching methods and its way of promoting the students for forthcoming future. Students related with open universities are not less talented and energetic than those of conventional universities. Apart from these we should remember one thing and that is qualitative education and it must be maintained at every level.



Saraswat guest of the program Dr. Narendra Kumar Singh Gaur, former Higher Education Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh graced the ceremony and said that education is not only the medium of earning. Education must be associated with ethical values and it should develop nationalism in students also. Special guest Professor Kalpalata Pandey, former Vice Chancellor, of Jananayak Chandrashekhar University, Ballia said in his address that world is going to be more familiar with open learning education system these days and it now symbolizes the importance of open learning education. Covid19 has made us to rethink over our conventional education system.Presiding over the programme, Professor Seema Singh, the Vice Chancellor, stated that teachers and employees are the backbone of the university's development. This opportunity for university students and faculty is a significant step towards innovation and prosperity in the field of advanced education and research. Professor Singh emphasized that Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University is progressing by leap and bounds. Perhaps our Forth coming generation will be studying only through open learning platforms.Learner Information Management System (LIMS) was inaugurated on this occasion which will enhance qualitative growth in the field of education. It will also be helpful for students in their whole educational activities.Teachers and employees who did excellent work were honoured in the silver jubilee ceremony. Two books were released on this occasion. One by Prof. Shruti and Dr. Gaurav Sankalp named Statistics in Research and one by Dr. Anandanand Tripathi and Dr. Trivikram Tripathi name E- Governance and Delivery of Public Services In India. One new magazine named “Badhte Kadam” edited by Indubhushan Pandey was also released.Family members of teachers and employees were also present to witness this beautiful moment. They took an active part in the function and enjoyed it a lot.A cultural event, called “Cultural Evening Bhashanjali”, was organised in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University and Hindustani Academy, Prayagraj. The event featured various performances, including Alha singing by Sri Jitendra Kumar Chaurasiya and his team from Mahoba, a Braj culture programme by Sri Ashok, Nilesh and their team from Mathura, Kajari singing by Smt. Urmila Srivastava and her team from Mirzapur, and Birha singing of Awadhi culture by Dr. Rachana Srivastava and her team from Ayodhya.The programme started with garlanding and lighting lamps on the statues of Maa Saraswati and Maharishi Rajarshi Tandon and the water filling programme. The guests who came on this occasion were welcomed with flower bunch and angavastram.Program Director of Silver Jubilee Celebration Professor P.P. Dubey delivered the welcome speech. The programme was conducted by Prof. Shurti and Dr. Devesh Ranjan Tripathi. Vote of thanks on this occasion was given by Registrar, Colonel Vinay Kumar Singh.
